The airport expansion is complete
Türkiye's State Airports Authority records the opening of Antalya Airport's new terminal buildings and complementary facilities on 12 April 2025. The authority says the project increased annual passenger capacity from 35 million to 82 million and reports 39.2 million direct and transit passengers in 2024.
The facilities are already in service. Capacity describes what the airport can handle—not how many tourists will arrive, where they will stay or how many leaders hotels will need. For hiring decisions, the useful evidence is the property's own demand pattern and operating plan.
What can responsibly be said about the hiring problem
Antalya is a large, seasonal hospitality market. Scale and seasonality make succession timing, multilingual guest operations and management continuity relevant to employers. A real mandate should begin with current evidence from the hiring organisation: turnover, time-to-fill, source-market mix, compensation history, season dates and the requirements of the specific property.
Sustainability is a staged national programme
Türkiye's Tourism Promotion and Development Agency describes a national programme for accommodation facilities. Its published timetable required at least Stage 1 verification by the end of 2023, Stage 2 by the end of 2025 and Stage 3 certification by 2030. The programme criteria cover sustainable management, local employment, purchasing, emissions, water and waste.
The official material does not establish a 100-bed threshold or require a particular Sustainability Director title. It does support asking who owns the evidence, systems and operational decisions needed for the applicable certification stage.
Correction, 7 September 2026: The airport-opening timeline and capacity interpretation were corrected, and unsupported market-wide staffing figures were removed.
A buyer's brief before the season
For a General Manager, Commercial Director or sustainability-led appointment, establish:
- the opening and peak-season dates the appointment must protect;
- the property's verified guest and source-market mix;
- the decisions and performance evidence the role owns;
- the languages and certifications genuinely required, rather than assumed; and
- the relocation, currency and contract terms the client is prepared to offer.
This turns a broad market story into a mandate-specific search. It also prevents an airport-capacity number from becoming a staffing forecast.
On suitable mandates, KiTalent targets a validated shortlist in seven to 10 working days. Confidential, board-level and highly scarce searches may take longer. Under Proof-First Search, the interview fee falls due only after the client validates the shortlist and is credited against the placement fee; the placement fee is due on hire. A signed offer, notice period, relocation and start date follow separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
When did Antalya Airport's expanded terminals open?
The new terminal buildings and complementary facilities opened on 12 April 2025.
Does the airport now handle 82 million passengers a year?
The official figure is stated annual capacity, not recorded traffic. The airport served 39.2 million direct and transit passengers in 2024; the capacity increase must not be presented as achieved passenger volume or a tourism forecast.
Does Türkiye require hotels over 100 beds to appoint a Sustainability Director in 2026?
The reviewed official programme does not establish that threshold or required title. It sets staged sustainability verification and certification requirements for accommodation facilities. Each employer should define who owns the applicable evidence and operations.
What evidence should an Antalya leadership search use?
Use current property-level evidence: role outcomes, season dates, guest mix, turnover, compensation history, language needs, certification obligations and relocation terms. Those inputs create a mandate-specific search boundary.
How does KiTalent structure a search?
On suitable mandates, the target is a validated shortlist in seven to 10 working days; confidential, board-level and highly scarce searches may take longer. Proof-First Search makes the interview fee due after the client validates that shortlist. Signed offer, notice, relocation and start date are later milestones.
