The buyer question
We need to hire senior manufacturing, engineering or operations leadership for a plant or industrial operation in Hradec Králové or the wider Hradec Králové Region. What does the verified record say about this market, and how should a mandate here be structured?
What the public record shows
The Hradec Králové Region had 553,224 inhabitants at 30 June 2026 on the Czech Statistical Office's balance; the city itself is recorded at 93,534 at the start of 2026, the core of a Hradec Králové-Pardubice agglomeration of roughly 350,000. The demographic direction beneath the market is unambiguous. In the first half of 2025 the region lost 2,271 inhabitants and every one of its districts declined: natural change was minus 1,165, with 1,920 live births - 7.4% fewer than a year earlier - against 3,085 deaths, and migration removed a further 1,106. The statistical office ranked the region's relative population decline fourth highest among Czech regions. There is no growing local labour pool behind this market.
The employer base on the record is smaller and more local than the multinational cluster this market is often described as. The city record names Arrow International, the Teleflex-owned medical-technology manufacturer, and Trelleborg Bohemia, a rubber-products producer, as the largest industrial employers headquartered in Hradec Králové, alongside the piano maker Petrof, founded in 1864, and the University Hospital as the city's largest non-industrial employer. The large electronics and automotive plants that sit in the surrounding conversation are documented in neighbouring regions: Foxconn's Czech operation has been in Pardubice since 2000 and averaged 856 employees in 2024, a 7% reduction its annual-report reporting attributes to automation and digitalization; Magna's Czech seating plant, opened in October 2018 with about 300 employees supplying BMW, is registered at Spořice in the Chomutov area; Schneider Electric's main Czech factory is at Písek, in South Bohemia.
The verified labour-market record for the region is a wage-and-employment series, not a shortage statistic. The average gross monthly wage in the Hradec Králové Region was CZK 45,231 in 2025, up 6.5% nominally and 3.9% in real terms - growth 0.7 percentage points below the national figure and the fifth lowest among regions - and stood at CZK 49,313 in the second quarter of 2026. Regional employment was 195,400 full-time equivalents in 2025, down 0.8% year on year, the second-largest decrease among Czech regions, and the general unemployment rate was 3.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025. The national manufacturing context sharpens the picture: on first-half 2025 data the sector's average wage was CZK 51,119 and its median CZK 43,334 - a level above the all-economy median of CZK 42,101, though the sector's median growth of 5.9% ran below the economy-wide 6.7% - and manufacturing employment fell by almost twenty thousand people in that half-year alone, after shedding more than seventy thousand in the pandemic year 2020, declines the wage-data publisher concentrates in automotive, rubber, plastics and engineering.
The pipeline and the demand side are documented at their ends. In the city, the vocational school SPŠ, SOŠ a SOU Hradební teaches mechanical-engineering, electrical, informatics and ecology fields - the technical entry route on the record. On the demand side, industry accounts for roughly 37% of the Czech economy and about a third of Czech exports go to Germany, so the region's manufacturers sell into Europe's most closely watched demand block; the export share is a national figure, and no regional decomposition of it is published.
What the verified record does not contain is any regional automation-investment, vacancy-duration, time-to-fill, salary-band, passive-candidate or workforce-age series for Hradec Králové's manufacturers. The CZK 4.2 billion regional automation figure this page previously carried, and the vacancy rates, salary bands and school-enrollment statistics around it, appear in no statistical publication of the Czech National Bank, the Czech Statistical Office, the Ministry of Education or the other institutions they were attributed to; none could be verified and none are repeated. The structure - a mid-sized regional manufacturing economy with a shrinking population, below-average wage growth and a documented national manufacturing downturn - is verifiable; the hiring arithmetic must be argued from structure, not quoted.
What changes in this market
A Hradec Králové manufacturing mandate is a mandate against demography and against the national sector trend at once. The buyers competing for senior technical and operations talent are the documented employers themselves - the city's medical-technology, rubber and precision-manufacturing base and the regional SME manufacturing beneath it - plus Prague's labour market to the west and the German demand block that takes about a third of Czech exports. Because regional pay grows more slowly than the national average while national manufacturing pay sits above the all-economy median even as employment falls, the calibration evidence a buyer needs lives in mandates actually run, not in regional salary surveys that do not exist in public form. And because every district of the region is losing population, succession and knowledge transfer are not optional workstreams in an operations-leadership brief here; they are the brief.
KiTalent's mandate analysis
- Screen on verified work against the documented employer base: medical technology, rubber and precision manufacturing are on the record in this city, so ask candidates to evidence production systems shipped inside comparable regulated or precision plants rather than recite titles.
- Benchmark pay against the national manufacturing series, not the regional one: CZK 45,231 was the region's 2025 average against a national manufacturing average of CZK 51,119 and a median of CZK 43,334 on first-half 2025 data, so an offer built on regional averages starts below the sector mean and will read that way to any nationally benchmarked candidate.
- Put the demographic arithmetic in the brief: births in the region fell 7.4% year on year in the first half of 2025 and every district lost population, so roles that depend on refilling a growing local pipeline should be designed for retention, training and knowledge transfer instead.
- Weight German demand exposure: about a third of Czech exports go to Germany - a national figure, not a regional one - so OEM order cyclicality belongs in the risk profile of any operations leadership hire, argued from the client's own order book rather than from regional dependency statistics that are not published.
- Treat market data as scarce: no public vacancy-duration, salary-band or passive-candidate series exists for this market, so scope and calibrate the mandate from the verified structural record - and expect senior specialist reach to be earned through direct mapping, the working assumption of every mandate KiTalent runs here.
Where the public record stops
Claims beyond the dated public record are not repeated on this page. This page's previous edition carried a CZK 4.2 billion regional automation-investment record, vacancy rates above 15%, 90-day-and-longer time-to-fill series, salary bands from CNC programmers to plant managers, workforce-age averages, school-enrollment declines and a 70% German supply-chain dependency, attributed to institutions that publish no such regional series; none could be verified, and none are repeated. The verified record above - the Czech Statistical Office's population, wage, employment and unemployment series for the region, the national manufacturing wage and employment record, the city's named employer base, Foxconn's published Czech employment at Pardubice, and the vocational school on Hradební - supports the structural argument without invented statistics.
